The Fault In Our Stars was the first John Green book I've ever read. I bought it in Waterstones along with some other books after my best friend raved to me about it. We often recommend books that we've read to each other and that is how a great number of books have entered my collection. Anyway, I secretly had my doubts about the book. It didn't look like anything I'd read before and reading the blurb, it didn't seem to my tastes. Books about people with cancer don't bode well with me due to the involvement of the illness with family members. However, I found myself wide awake at 11 o' clock one night, so I decided to give it a go.
Let me tell you how wrong my first impressions were! Only a few pages into the book, I was immersed into the story of Hazel Grace, a terminal cancer patient, and Augustus Waters, described as 'a gorgeous plot twist'! I fell in love with Hazel's clever and blunt quips at life and the charming rogue that is Augustus. You expect a book about cancer to be full of depressed, lifeless characters struggling along with their life until the inevitable and predictable end comes and leaves you in a mood that only spending the day wrapped in a duvet can cure. The Fault In Our Stars was nothing like that; it was energetic, amusing and although it was sad, it left you thinking what an amazing book it was.
I have only praise for the extremely talented author that is John Green, who handled the delicate and upsetting subject of cancer in such a way that...well, I can't describe it! Needless to say, it didn't put me in a depressed mood, rather it had me hunting the shelves of Waterstones for more of John Green's work! I think that the only fault in The Fault In Our Stars is that when I was finished, I wanted more!
I am giving this book 5/5. There's no question about it. I started it at 11pm and due to the fact that I was unable to put it down, I finished it at 2am. If you had walked into my room at that time, you would have found me sobbing, clutching the book to my chest whispering praises to the heavens!
I recommend this book to everyone out there. I don't think there is anyone who wouldn't enjoy this book. Also, if you are looking to expand your vocabulary, this is the perfect book because it is extremely articulate!
John Green has other books such as Looking for Alaska and The Abundance of Katherines. He also has several Youtube channels, one of which is The Vlogbrothers. Click the link to check it out!

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy books, which is kind of the same thing.

Welcome to my blog!
I have been telling myself to start a blog for a long time but as usual, procrastination reigned supreme over my life. The real reason that I wanted to start writing one is because my one ambition in life is to become an author. My mum was constantly nagging me to write a blog as it will help my creative juices to flow, etc but I didn't really want to be told to make one. I wanted to do it on my own accord. So, I have been pondering over the idea for some time.
The motivation for finally making a blog was my sister. A group of her friends, including her, have started their own blog, aptly named 'Avec Mes Amis'. My family aren't French so I don't know where the inspiration for this blog name came from but it's a good blog. Check it out if you have time. I can sense a tangent coming on so let's get back to the point! My sister asked me to look at her post before she published it onto her blog, and seeing the excitement of writing posts and customising it to their tastes, I decided to get cracking on my own. I went to my room and started planning on my blog...
This was yesterday. Now I have my blog. I'm not quite sure what I'll be posting about to be honest but I know for certain that I will be writing about books. Then I'll probably post whatever comes into my head. So keep an eye out for that!
Bye for now!
...Should I put my name? I don't know...I'll either put my real name or a fake one. However, for now I shall remain Nameless!
